What do you do when you want to buy roller derby gear? If you - TopicsExpress

What do you do when you want to buy roller derby gear? If you are like me you may have explored different pathways. I have done this via online Australian and International websites, buying second hand and also walking into many a shop. In my experience I have had some successful online purchases. With those purchases there was a lot of communication leading up to buying the goods and once again with someone that holds a lot of knowledge and a genuine concern for selling the right item. But at other times online purchases had left me really disappointed and feeling like I had wasted my money. For me, the most rewarding and certain way of getting what you want is walking into a bricks and mortar store where you can talk to someone that has knowledge and a genuine interest in giving you the right product, first time, so you walk out a satisfied customer and with no “buyers regret”. I have walked into my “local” skate store with my mind absolutely set on something, yet I heeded the advice of the salesperson and during my first training session using that product I had that little conversation with myself during training where I said, “I’m glad I listened”. With my newest purchase of a Bauer 7500 hockey helmet and visor, I was faced with the decision of purchasing an entry level visor or a more expensive snap on visor. The salesperson recommended the snap on visor, but I honestly believed that the entry level visor would be perfect for me.Then 2 training sessions later with the helmet and visor I was convinced that I should have listened to my “local” yet again. By the way, the Bauer 7500 helmet is amazing and the newly acquired snap on visor is a total gem :) I choose to shop at Extreme Skates Roller Derby at Taringa for these reasons. 1. Great service. 2. Great range of product. 3. This shop supports the derby community both locally and nationally. There are not many SEQ bouts that you attend where Extreme Skates Roller Derby don’t have a table full of gear for you to touch and feel. In short, listen to your local skate shops and try to shop local :) Elton Michelle :)
