What do you know about Acid & Alkaline Foods? The basic rule of a thumb for a balanced body chemistry, which is of utmost importance for a healthy body, is to eat 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods each day. Acidosis (over acidity in the body tissues) is one of the basic causes of many diseases especially arthritis & rheumatic diseases. This occurs when the body does not have adequate reserves to convert excess acid to alkaline or neutral elements & hence there is no resistance to fight disease, therefore this 80% - 20% ratio is vitally important. When maintained, the body has a strong resistance against disease. Your body can only function normally & sustain health over a long run in the presence of adequate alkaline reserves.
