What do you know about savants? Not much probably. Dustin Hoffman played a savant opposite Tom Cruise in Rain Man. Cruises character could drop a box of wooden matches on the floor and Hoffmans character could instantly call out how many matches had dropped. Heres the deal...every now and then a young person with tremendous intellectual challenges, perhaps even blindness, suddenly exhibits an extraordinary talent to solve complex mathematical problems, or tell you what day of the week you were born, just by hearing your birth date.
