Well, today I decided to run up to Moss Landing to see what I could see in the Lagoon and from the beach. And what did I see? 12 or more humpbacks within a mile of shore, and hundreds of pelicans diving for fish at the surface! The highlight was spotting two whales at the green can buoy that lies just outside the entrance to the harbor, just as the R/V Point Sur was approaching. There are plenty of whales around, and good numbers are being seen quite close to Moss Landing. This is an excellent time to get on a boat and go whale watching.
