What does John Lennon have to do with the Presidents announcement tonight? The President is expected to announce a number of changes of how immigration is handling certain cases. The most controversial of these is an expected expansion of the Deferred Action program. Many people are saying that the President does not have the authority to grant Deferred Action. But the government has formally acknowledged the right to grant Deferred Action back in the 70s and has been granting it to immigrants ever since. And the first person that the US government publicly granted Deferred Action to was beloved Beatle, John Lennon.
