What does a photo have in it? Is it a simple click? or just frozen time? Beyond all that,it is a beautiful memory of the place that you capture. I came across an incident which made me realize this. While I was waiting for my train, a senior citizen,probably in his 70s, came and started taking photos of everything in the station. Everyone was giving him strange looks. He didnt bother, rather continued. My focus followed every moment of his and after a while his family joined him which consisted of 2 ladies, a person of his age and a girl who was physically mature but not mentally. He went and showed all the photos to her. There was a joy in her face, a kind of joy which you see when a baby finally meets her/his mother, and she jumped around like a kid. He then resumed his task. Curiosity killed me,I went and asked him and he answered. ‘You see the girl over there acting like a kid? She is my daughter. She, as you can see, is mentally disabled, she loves memories, in fact, she lives in memories. I think that’s a gift, not bothering about the present or worrying about the future. Every time I show her a photo , she is overwhelmed with joy. I want to see that joy and smile every time, even if I looked like a fool in the process, a smile that would make her forget her sorrow, the pain that she had suffered in the past. Now she is always happy, forgetting the past. A photo isnt simply an image of a place or a thing, it is a feeling, an emotion, a beautiful memory. Happy World Photography day :)
