What does amnesty mean to you? Does it mean simply allowing - TopicsExpress

What does amnesty mean to you? Does it mean simply allowing illegals to stay in the U.S.? Allowing them to stay AND giving them citizenship? If you impose a fine and a background check and allow the illegal to stay, is it amnesty? Is it amnesty to allow illegals to serve in our military and if they serve a certain amount of time, give them citizenship? Is giving illegals in-state tuition a form of amnesty? How about drivers licenses? The reason I ask is because there are people in other Facebook groups who seems to think that its not amnesty if we impose a fine and make the illegals jump through other hoops (such as a background check, making them take American history classes & English classes). To me, thats treating someone who crossed our border illegally like they ran a red light -- a fine, maybe traffic school, and theyre back out on the road. I think that ALL illegals should be deported (or conditions created that would make them self-deport). Then, when theyre back in their country of origin, they can apply to come here. ANYTHING else, to me, is amnesty. What do you think?
