What does an athletic body look like, Part 3 Lots of food for - TopicsExpress

What does an athletic body look like, Part 3 Lots of food for fitness thought in Sam Sheridans A Fighters Heart. An interesting case is Jeremy Horn, from Pat Militechs world class MMA gym. Sheridan relates “(Horn) fights all the time, every month, against anybody. Hell fight at 205 pounds or 185...his ground game is considered one of the best in the world, hes fought the best fighters and beaten some of them....Ive watched him box and bang with (the heavyweight champ) without any problems.....around the gym, most are more afraid of him than anyone else.” Again, this guy stands out in a gym where everyone is top of their class. Reading Horns description, I can imagine how his type of character would be cast in a movie, bodywise, and Im betting pretty bodybuilder-ish. If you see the video below (feel free to mute the aggro soundtrack) youll see that though he looks athletic, hes a lot less Stallone circa-Rocky IV (mimes injecting self in arm), a lot more like a tall, lanky guy who maybe swims three times a week. And this is a guy who has some of the toughest guys in the world in one of the most demanding sports spotting their Jockeys. A similar tale is told later in the book regarding Fedor Emelianenko, who dominated the MMA heavyweight division for years with masterful boxing and grappling skills, and looked like a slightly puffy dockworker. Almost chubby with his shirt off, though I wouldnt tell him so. MMA requires both huge endurance and repeated displays of both low- and high-level strength, but even at its highest levels, this training doesnt always translate into what were now used to as a movie physique. Training should always have an objective. It might be athletic performance, aesthetics, rehabilitation, or just having fun screwing around in the gym or outside with a kettlebell and club. Yes, training for one thing will bleed over into some others, but you cant ride two horses with one tuchis, you have to prioritize. Interestingly, this is also how Chinese herbal formulae are constructed; I think my background in training was a great help in learning to put medicinals together for a precise effect. I like to lean out for a few times in the year, July 4th being one of them. On the other hand, dragonboat has gotten popular enough here that I may well have to compete via time trial for a space in the upcoming July and August races, and training for cardio and muscle-endurance over sprint distances is different than training for definition (really). Stay tuned for how it goes (dramatic shiver.) https://youtube/watch?v=_kwK3qSxlcY&list=PLLHvvpTA4bnZd6CAbRTFiMkANRfHSCb6u https://youtube/watch?v=y3SnCwSZbI8
