What does it mean to be inspired? It probably means different things to different people. I am sure if you read Facebook daily you have one of three emotions when you see the majority of my posts. As they are usually from my MapMyRide/Run app they are usually announcing a swim, a run or a bike ride. You are either inspired, indifferent or annoyed. Truth is I am annoyed like anyone else about certain constant posts. Usually I am annoyed by the political ones or hourly selfies. However, every once in a while I am inspired by someone or a group of people. People have told me that my posts inspired them to get active and that is enough for me. This post is about some people who inspired me to do something that I have been saying I was going to do for a very long time. The whole reason I took the vacation I started today was to accomplish this one goal. Most people know that in spite of how active I am I have been a life long, 30 year, pack a day smoker. I was inspired to give it a real try by a couple of skater dudes named Rich-Joseph Facun and Rodriguez David and some others. I havent seen David in a very, very long time. The posts of them enduring the fight to quit life long smoking habits inspired me. I put my last cig out last night at 9 pm. So as of right now, 9 pm tonight, I made through my first 24 hour period without smoking. I know I have a long road ahead and hopefully this seven days off will help me. One day at a time. Thank you dudes for the inspiration.
