What does living a holy life means? To me it simply means to live on a higher moral plane. Is this attainable? In Lev. 11:44-45 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping that creeps on the earth. For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. Although there is a reference to food, clearly God did not only talk about food, but of a lifestyle. What you eat or not cannot make you holy by itself. Now the arguement will be that this was an Old Testament scripture; many, many years prior to Jesus been born as a human, let alone being crucified. For this reason we have to look for scripture after His crucifiction. This is why Im using a scripture written after Jesus ascention to heaven. 1 Peter 1:13-16 Therefore gird up the lions of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in ALL YOUR CONDUCT, because it is written, BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY. The question would be, Would God ask of us to be holy if He knew it would be unattainable for a mere human being? You answer that question reader.
