What does our W1 team have in common with the USA Americas Cup team...we both came second after leading by a huge margin! In an amazing game, our wonderful ladies lead 8-0 going into the bottom of the fifth, but could do nothing to prevent the Uni bats piling on 12 runs in the last dig to win! Go figure! Lets look at some facts though...we played with 5 regulars away therefore had a number of W2 players playing up. Our starting pitcher pulled a calf muscle running to third, so was replaced by our scorer, Teish. Given all of these challenges we clearly won the game in each innings apart from the fifth! Great efforts batting by Deb Kerr (2bags plus 3bagger), Shareese and Amelia Waipouri, and Tracy Denmead. Both Di and Danie worked hard on the pitchers plate. Fielding was another strength of the game with Nicole Crowe and Kellie Meehan making great outs from short and third base. Great to see two sets of mothers and daughters on the diamond...helped to make the game even a bit more special! Hold your heads up ladies and be very proud of your efforts! David Crowe
