What does prayerful faith need? “… the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” Exodus 14:15 Israel had cried out for freedom (Ex 3:7-10, Num 12:6-8), and God used Moses to accomplish His will in answering Israel’s prayer. How did Moses respond when God commanded, “Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground” (v 16)? Moses, at that moment, had no idea what to expect. But, he had to have courage to move in obedient faith. Imagine, standing in front of the Nation of Israel and an advancing Egyptian army – then, simply and raise a stick in the air! In an overwhelming dilemma, Moses had to “stop crying out” and then, with courage, give the command, “Move!” Have you asked God to do something in your life, but you were missing something, it hindered you to move in complete faith? What was missing? Courage! It takes courage to ask, courage to move, and courage to receive. Jesus’s faith was in the resurrection, with great courage He asked for mercy and moved to the cross. Great faith needs courage to ask, courage to move, and courage to receive – even the courage to pick up your cross. Owen
