What follows is not to disagree with Krugman, who (as I said) understands economics. Do Republicans, of the USA political variety, equal realists? Not if they think that fossil fuels are not fossils, which is to reject both paleontology (including evolution) and physics (including the Big Bang Theory). Unfortunately, we must be selective about what we accept as factual. . . By itself, that is an interesting sideline. Darwin was racist. I find that strange that he could have been such a bigot, yet that he could simultaneously discover something so profound that (without his discovery) nobody would know how to find oil deep within the ocean. Mind you, I do not want to encourage anyone using more oil in such a way that it contributes further to global warming. I simply think that the contrast is intriguing. Intrigue often is at the heart of artistic conflict within a fictional plot, unless. . . Unless we are not writing about realism.
