What happens when a multinational sets up by your house, monopolizes your ancestral land, pollutes the environment, and poisons your water? The documentary Gold Fever shows the unequal battle between a giant mining company - the Canadian company Goldcorp Inc. - and the local population represented among others by three Mayan women, Gregoria, Diodora and Crisanta, who persist in defending their land, lifestyle, health and the future of their children. The question of the relationship between human rights and businesses is one of the priority themes of FIDH. We have rewarded Gold Fever on the occasion of the freedom festival 2014.
