What happens when a work-a-holic is forced to stay home all week for an illness? I have arguments with monetary mothers who think they have to buy their childrens happiness. The argument began because she put another mother down who told her children they were not going to Disneyland this year. Said mother told said OTHER mother that she was SELFISH for her decision to NOT take her kids to Disneyland or Disneyworld.... because I am stuck home, half drugged and bored.... this was my reply: Crys England · Author at Author- The Heart of Guildan I dont believe that a childs happiness and richness in life comes from a trip to the most expensive place on earth. And I live in Southern California and have been more than 50 times to the happiest place on earth. I am sadly disappointed that the place I grew up loving and shared with my child has become so over commercialized and ridiculously expensive. Walt Disney would never be happy to see how parents are being gouged at a theme park. The theme parks population cap is one million. Thats a whole lot of people in a very small area. I went 4 months ago. This populous does not allow a family to ride more than roughly 6-8 rides in a given day. Considering you just paid more than a grand for your family of four to get in, presuming you are smart enough to know one day is not enough... do the math. Then consider the meals, the crap you will buy. I used to always say shame shame on a family who lived in California and didnt take their child to Disneyland. Enrich your children in other ways. There is nothing wrong with making that goal of Disneyland happen in YOUR life for YOUR children. But dont beat someone else up for their decision to do what they feel is much more enriching for their children. A truly SELFLESS parent understands that ultimately, their happiness does come first.
