What has happened to the games industry? Please everyone understand this is my own opinion and I am not talking about any certain person. I have recently noticed that alot of people have became out of touch with what the community/industry use to be about. If some of you dont know I work many different jobs and one of them is in the games industry. My brother from another mother (lol) Jason Belec and I started 2nd Opinion Productions 4 years ago and have over 18 years of of combined experience in this industry. We started 2nd Opinion to be different from other industry sites. We saw a pattern of bland content all over the place and wanted something fresh, something organic, something that would set us apart from the other sites. Thats exactly what we created. There have been good times and bad times, but it is ours. . .and thats why its great to us. I will also go on to say we couldnt be here with out the help of Rebecca Ash, Jeremy Roughan, and Staci Graves. We as a team have had to work our asses of for every thing we have in life and I wouldnt trade any of our team for the world. That being said. . .it is sad to see what some of our industry has become. Ive noticed alot of people becoming so consumed with what they have/get , that they forget where they have came from. When a gamer become successful either it be revenue coming in to their site, becoming a pro gamer, or even being a youtuber they get alot more attention from our community and industry. It becomes a very exciting thing to be able to meet devs, get free review products, go to events as media, and even work for the devs themselves. Some of the main people I have been friends with for sometime and have always stayed true to themselves are Robert Workman, Gerard Williams, Smellonie Skellington, Sebastian Burton, Andrea Ehnert, and Malik Forté. Now the reason these people have never changed and have still been successful in this industry is because they never forget where they came from and they WORK FOR WHAT THEY GET. I can promise you now, if you want to be a success in this Industry you have to work hard and always be YOURSELF. . .Never change because of fame. You must also remember that there will always be things that try and hold you back, but if you are passionate enough and actually work for your dreams . . . You will ALWAYS get what you deserve. Secondly, Our community. What happened to gamers? When did we become so spoiled that we completely bash a company for not making a game atleast 20 hours long? When did the standard get set that a game has to be 1080p or it sucks? When did gamer get so spoiled that if a games graphics arent like real life that you wont even play the title? How about we give thanks for the people thay work there asses of to bring these games to life????!!!! Wake up and smell the coffee people! Just 10 years ago we were playing PS2s and XBOXs that had ok graphics....maybe its our own fault. Maybe we turned ourselves in to this monster for not caring enough about the indie devs back in the day...idk I just know this...if we dont change as a community we will all crash at the end. So please how about not being as critical all the time? Also lets get back to being that AWESOME loving community that we use to be!
