What if Gabriel Allon was filmed in the Fifties? Heres an idea Ive been toying with, what if our Gabriel Allon movie was filmed in the 1950s? It would take on a whole different look and aesthetic wouldnt it? Lets get right to my cast. Laurence Harvey as Gabriel. Not too handsome but just enough. Sprinkle in a little edge and danger and we have Gabriel. Susan Hayward as Chiara. She has to be gorgeous but no pushover. Hayward is one of my all time favorites. Lee Remick as Sarah Bancroft. Sarah has sass and so does Remick. Toss in a healthy amount of courage and we have Ms. Bancroft. Sir John Gielgud as Graham Seymour. Very much the British gentleman and protector of the realm. Sir Alec Guinness as Julian Isherwood. Julian has to be a bit scruff and worn. Not from age but from fighting the good fight. Dana Andrews as Adrian Carter. Loved Andrews for his film noir work. Mysterious and tough. A natural for CIA work. Sam Jaffe as Shamron. I resisted this casting at first but Jaffe is just so great. He exudes intelligence, wisdom and the gift of experience. An excellent Shamron.
