What if marriage contracts only lasted five years? If you were - TopicsExpress

What if marriage contracts only lasted five years? If you were still in love then get remarried. If one of you wants out then yup good luck with the renup. Stay together for the kids? Well, five years is a lot easier to swallow than eighteen so stick it out for another two and a half or just give up half way because why prolong the inevitable? Would children be less likely to blame themselves for the breakups? Would the balance of power in a relationship be more equal? Would parenting after separation have a different face to it? Less reproduction? Less lawsuits? Less childhood trauma? Less spousal abuse? More negotiating? More healthy compromises? More forgiveness? More positive change? --- just entertaining an idea and I am sure I am not the first to think it. Comments?
