What if this were it? What if this was to be your last day on earth? How different would that be? Would you worry about where you will spend eternity? Will you worry how your family will be? Will you spend anytime at all worrying about your favorite college football team? Would you go to work or go for a ride? Would you slow down and enjoy the beauty of this earth or would you just stare ahead? What about God? Would you seek Him a little more diligently? Would you yell at Him and ask why? Or would you accept it and ask when? What would you do differently if you knew that today would be it? Thats hard to answer. For some we would be scrambling to make up for lost time. We would maybe spend time forgiving others or asking to be forgiven. Maybe our hugs would be tighter and our words more loving. Maybe we would talk to God, I know I would. I would make sure that I talked to others, too. I would tell my wife how much she has meant to me and how much I love her. I would tell my daughters how proud I am of them and how much I love them. I would bless my grandchildren and tell them to always trust God. I would want every friend that I have to be blessed with the knowledge of how much I love them. And I would want the people I know to know that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. And that He is good. I would want each of you to know Him as your Lord and Savior. I would not care about money or houses things. They matter not. I would pray for songs and laughter and tears of joy. Matthew 24:36-42 ESV “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. You do not know when your last day will be. You do know when Jesus will return. You cant quit your job and not live your life. But you can live with purpose, the purpose of loving God and loving others,, Lord, my prayer is yours today. Matthew 6:9-13 ESV “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. In Jesus Name.
