What is Psychotherapy? How can psychotherapy help me? Talking therapies have proved to be powerful at coping with depression, accepting yourself and others and moving beyond the trauma of the past that keeps making itself felt in the present. Psychotherapy is a blanket term that encompasses a wide variety of approaches and methods for shifting you from stuck states and experiencing repeating behaviours or emotions that make you unhappy or are destructive to your wellbeing and that of those around you. Fast or gentle progress – you decide. Forget the long, tedious, dimly lit variety of psychotherapy you see in Hollywood movies and imagine instead a calm, flexible experience in my relaxing therapy rooms at Hypnotherapy Focus Clinic, Folkestone or in London, because my modern methods can, depending on the pace you wish to work at, create rapid, energetic, positive changes. Flexible and dynamic treatment Psychotherapy treatment uses several models or approaches and the key to a successful outcome for you is discovering which approach or approaches work best for you. Broadly speaking, there are three main approaches you can benefit from. •Psychodynamic models focus on the dynamics of the personality and privilege the unique relationship between you and me, your therapist, as the crucible for change. •Cognitive-Behavioural models focus on your thoughts and behaviour as the basis of psychological functioning. •Systems models focus on you as an individual AND as part of a wider integrated social system, such as your family situation. It is your therapy and you are best judge of how well you are progressing in removing pain, blockages and stuck states where you cannot seem to move on, despite your best efforts. As an international therapist working across all of these useful models, you receive treatment entirely appropriate to your needs. There are several psychotherapeutic approaches and you benefit from my knowledge and experience of the following, to devise the best way forward for you. •Talk-Therapy •Gestalt Psychotherapy •Short Term Therapy •Solution Focused Therapy Feel free to call me to discuss how these different approaches work to find the best solution for your problem. All are safe, effective and empowering and my role is to facilitate the most suitable treatment for you. Family, relationship and personal issues you have can be resolved or at least reduced to an acceptable level of acceptance safely and gently with psychotherapy. Deep-seated problems can be resolved at a gentler pace to deal with the problem fully and to suit your gradual adjustment to living without a problem and how others can then gradually adjust to your improvement. For example, you might find yourself at odds with a loved one, which never used to happen. And you seem to be arguing, even though you have no money worries to speak of. Exploring your problem at a pace to suit you. By carefully listening to the problem as you experience it, I can help you resolve the underlying issues leading to that unwanted, damaging and destructive behaviour before it becomes an issue for mediation or even separation. Psychotherapy explores the width and depth of your problem to bring an eventual resolution. It is provides an knowledge of the intimate workings of yourself and can prove a rewarding and uplifting experience, in addition to the therapeutic benefit of dealing with your issue. Relaxation treatment in an environment to remove what’s been holding you back. You benefit from my international psychotherapy experience, which brings together the best practice from the USA, UK and European schools of thought; providing a thorough, well-rounded, patient-centred approach, to best serve your needs, safely and effectively. Much more then simply getting something off your chest, psychotherapy has evolved to provide a voice for emotional issues and a means to resolve the most serious, deep-seated issues.
