What is a Narnian? We define a “Narnian” by the following criteria: First, there is more than one Narnian and this group chose its name from the greatest of the Narnians C.S. “Jack” Lewis whose writings cover a considerable range to say the least! Second, a Narnian is someone who reads and reads a lot!!!! Especially those who love to learn about and read that which inspired the “Great Narnians” or those works which we call “Pre-Narnian” such as: Greco-Roman Mythology, History, Philosophy, Norse Mythology, Celtic Mythology, Welsh Mythology, Arabian Mythology, Medieval Lore, and Christianity. Third, a Narnian has an interest in faith, natural law, & culture. Fourth, a Narnian loves a good story whether in a book or a movie. Some great Narnians would be: Dante Alighieri, John Bunyan, John Milton, Hans Christian Andersen, George MacDonald, G.K. Chesterton, Beatrix Potter, J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Williams, C.S. “Jack” Lewis, Dorothy L. Sayers, Madeleine LEngle, Peter Kreeft, Randy Alcorn & Columbine Christian teen martyr & mystic Rachel Joy Scott (she was an artist & poet). Some of us argue that even modern fantasy writers such as J.K. Rowling & Ursula Le Guin would be Narnians as well. To join our forum one merely has to have an interest in any one of these great Narnians (known from either their books or from movies); you do not have to personally be a Narnian to join our group! Here we talk about the following issues that the great Narnians also discussed: literature, fairy tales, mythology (Classical, Norse, Celtic, Welsh, Arabian, & Medieval Lore), works of fantasy & mystery, poetry, issues of faith & culture, natural law, art, and cinema. One obviously does not have to know all or even most of these issues! This is a site where people can both teach and learn just by sharing a post, making a comment, or simply asking a question. Do not be afraid to share what you believe because we allow and expect respectful disagreements; after all we are a discussion forum and we write about whatever comes to mind so long as it adheres to the topics outlined in our mission statement.
