What is ‘a people’? We have many representations and definitions. Interestingly, we have less and less of what they »refer to. Because ‘a people’ is not a definition or analysis, nor is it an example or description. And can never be this. No people is abstract. Each of the forms of life on Earth comprises ‘a people’; a unique physical intelligence embodied in relationally developmental form as organisms and places. A ‘people’ is constellations of living places, organisms and their »actual relationships. Yet what I am trying to say is at once too simple to understand, and too complex. One cannot ‘know’ any people through thinking or modeling. Or language, per se. One knows a people by »serving them. As their ally, human aspect, and companion. Anyone who knows a pet dog, cat or other animal... learns this... however poorly. They learn that ‘this animal form is noble and true’. That is the nature of contact with a people. Service as companion-ally. Protector. Speaker for. Human representative of. Our ‘people’ do not really exist. For we have become abstractions, not peoples. But the animals of nature, the living places and histories... these are ‘the real peoples of Earth’. All of them are intelligent beyond the capacities of our science or religion to apprehend. But we have ideas, words, and abstractions... spectating... instead of relationships. I urge you most sincerely to accomplish a single task: Get to know a ‘people’ of nature. Directly, without models... as an ally, companion, speaker-for, and protector. Because if you do not, frankly, you will never become human. And if you stop at the common human roadmarks, you will not have come near the »gate... let alone entered into it. What is in nature is a kind of »intelligence lightning... that nearly »every apparently smart human is actually terrified of. The reason I know is simple: This lightning speaks in those who touch it. And this speech terrifies the pretenders. And sets them to defending their precious fictions. Fictions invented to stand not in the place of intelligence and relation... but in the place of costumed display artifact. Meet the living peoples of Earth ... and leave everything you thought or learned from human cultures out of the game. A single authentic encounter »with any common insect... will destroy your science, religion, language... and relationships with identity and purpose. And will remake them, pure and true.
