What is empowerment? by definition it is the increasing of spiritual, political, social, educational, gender, or economic strength of individuals and communities.2 Self-empowerment is taking charge of your own life, recognizing the potential within ourselves. We are all born with empowerment. As a child you are free and fearless. It is not until society and the environment around us steals away or chisels away at our empowerment. Each and every time some one tells us no we can’t do or be what we want they steal some of our power. We allow our power to be snuffed out by others. There is a way to build our inner power and make it stronger. Here are some tips to help rebuild your inner power. 1. Take back your life. Stop allowing negative people or thoughts to run your life. Be aware of your inner power and that you are strong. 2. Let go of the past. The past is the past for a reason, don’t live there. Don’t beat yourself up over what could have been or what you should have done or what you didn’t do. Let it go. It’s done and over with , focus on the here and now. 3.Like the song by Trooper- “Raise a little Hell”- if you don’t like what you got then why don’t you change it. The song says it all. Is what your doing working for you? if not change it. 4.Recognize your qualities. Make a list of all your abilities, you do have them. Read that list each and every day. You are more than you believe you are worth. 5.Put your abilities into action. If your great at reading, join a readers group share your abilities with others that share the same qualities. Don’t waste them on people that don’t appreciate you for you. 6. Be happy. Do the things that make you smile, that bring joy to your heart. Feel good, feeling good will make you feel more empowered. 7. Help others empower themselves. Share with them ways to become self-empowered. Being around others that share you vision and passion of empowerment will not only help you build your self-empowerment but that of those around you. Empower yourself….Your worth it!
