What is interesting, is the potential of uncounted ballots that were delayed by no mail service Friday due to Iselle warnings. Does anyone else find it odd, the transmission error described below and then the factor, what about those ballots that came in on Monday? Were those updated already? Looking for more information on this, shouldnt all the numbers have changed on Monday when final ballots came in and account for the lack of mail service due to natural disaster? Its looking like Baker will still take the Primary by 9-10% but the facts are still unclear and earlier news reports stated there would be a second printout. The first shows only 117 votes more in the SD6 race between Terez Amato and incumbent Roz Baker but is that the final answer in an election where results were already falsely stated? Inquiring minds want to know. . As for those 800 uncounted ballots from Maui, chief elections officer Scott Nago says the error was caught during post-election audits. “They were counted, but the transmission wasn’t done. It wasn’t completed,” he told KHON2. Nago admits that the error was discovered earlier this week, but not revealed publicly until Friday evening. “We were doing the audits. In case we found any more, we were just going to do it all at one time,” he said. Nago says a similar error has occurred in the past, but not to this scale. “The gap was actually a timing issue, so this was the last card. So when we reconciled that night, it looked like it was there, but when we did the actual printout in the morning, it wasn’t there,” he said. Nago says the office will review its procedures to ensure future errors are caught earlier. khon2/2014/08/15/polls-open-for-puna-voters-on-big-island/
