What is it about dogs? How is it they get under our skin and work their way into our hearts. Its like a disease; a lovely parasitic disease. Ive had several dogs in my life. I consider myself a dog person. Funny that, b/c I cant really say Im a people person. Not that I dont like people. I do. Its just that I dont like people as much as I like dogs. In case you havent been paying attention, Im NOT a cat person. Dogs define the true meaning of UNCONDITIONAL love. Whatever pains me, my dog always consoles me. Even when I shun him/her in my moment of grief or frustration, there she/he is, waiting to give me kisses. Few things give me more satisfaction than petting and loving on my dogs. Why is it that stroking and petting, kissing and doting on them makes ME happy? I literally feel my blood pressure drop and my angst melts away, if only for the moment. Wonderful creatures, dogs are. Mine lay around all day. They wait with utter patience until we get home and then celebrate the return of ”their pack with barks and yelps and wagging tails. Jojos dog Bailey performs a series of curly Qs. Its SO funny b/c he cant help but tie himself in knots hes SO happy. Nothing makes B.U.G. happier than a chance to crawl into my lap for some loving. Shes not exactly a lap dog. She weighs 50+ pounds, but I rarely say no. I consider myself lucky, as Bailey insistently crawls up onto Gary- all 70+ pounds of him -despite Garys protests! He insistently licks Garys face w/his 6 wide tongue. Im definitely the winner here. All said, theres something incredibly special about dog ownership. Cantt help but feel sorry for people who ”dont do dogs. Theyre really missing out. Looking forward to adopting a new family member. Not only did we lose Willie this week- which was hard enough -but Jojos leaving for N.J. and taking Bailey with him this weekend. Dogs are important to me/us. I cant imagine only having one. Nope, that wont do. So, yall, get off your butts and adopt a friend. No matter the pain and grief they cause when they go, the reward of their unconditional love and affection makes it MORE than worth it! Thank God for dogs....
