What is it about the Golden Crown Literary Society conference that sets my teeth on edge? LOL. This is one of my very favorite events of the year. But man, is it costly! For at least the second time in the 10 years Ive been attending this conference, I am in need of emergency dental assistance on the eve of the conference. I know it happened 8 years ago, and it may have happened another time, as well. 8 years ago I think I was in the middle of my third root canal on one tooth. Today? Its that same tooth! Seems my stress level lately has been such that I have worn a hole in my... wait for it... golden crown. Right. See how that happened there? I was planning to wait until I got home from the con to take care of getting the crown replaced. Alas, in the past few days that tooth (all the way in the back, lower left) has become incredibly sensitive not just to hot and cold, but to air. Oy. So, this is how wonderful my dentist and his staff are. They were planning to take the day off Weds. Instead, they are opening at 8 a.m. just for me, so that they can make me a temporary crown that hopefully will take me through the conference, after which they can put in another new, permanent crown. How much do I love and appreciate them right now? A LOT! Plus, the temporary crown will mean I can eat ice cream with impunity. I hope...
