What is left out from the house build cost in Angilan is the - TopicsExpress

What is left out from the house build cost in Angilan is the rental for the chain saw that will be used to cut old coconut trees. It will be calculated once the inventory of existing construction materials from damaged houses is finished. Plenty of bamboos in barangay Angilan. The problem is that they do not local skill to weave this into amakan or sawali for walling. Perhaps its an opportunity to get someone from a barangay in other municipalities known for selling Amaken and teach the people how to make amakan. The factor to consider is time constraint. The fastest way is to buy and worry about skills transfer later. The other issue is who will provide food to the carpenters families during the time of the housebuild since they are volunteers and their usual livelihood disrupted? I recall that the carpenters present agreed to the suggestion they be given only rice by the house build fund and they will have other sources of viand furing 15 days of building a house. It was estimated that to finish a house, 1.5 kilos of rice would be consumed per day; hence, 22.5 kgs. of rice will be needed for 15 days or a total of 337.5 kgs of rice for all 15 houses. This volume of rice translates into 6.75 sacks. At Php 2,000 per sack, the total cost for providing rice to carpenters during the 15-day building period will be Php 13,500. Local people know best. We need a donor for this. Any taker?
