What is more important? Going into debt to pay for material WANTS - TopicsExpress

What is more important? Going into debt to pay for material WANTS in our households or spending time with our families? The average American family is nearly $16,000 in debt. Yikes! The average min wage is $7.25 per hour. So, if you buy a $20 shirt or TOY you just worked 2.7 hours to provide for that ONE item. Lets be real, most kids have more toys under their beds than what they will ever play with. Matter of fact the statistic for 2013 stated that the average American family spent $371 on toys alone. Thats 51 hours of labor! Just about 1- 1/2 weeks of work to pay for toys the kids will get bored with or dont like anyway.....How about spend that 51 hours and go on a bike ride, read your child a book, invest in them personally. Arctic circle has $.50 ice cream cones and indoor playground. Guarantee the kids wont remember eating ice cream but playing WITH YOU. I know this is true because I took my four and three year old nephews there last week. They wanted to play tag with me and didnt even care about ice cream. The best memories I have with my family is not a toy or outfit. My favorite memories with my family was when we were frosting cookies together in the dining room and got into a frost throwing fight!!! When my dad would play catch with us, when we went to the beach or hiked. My dad would take me out to coffee and only ONE time did he let me beat him in chess..hahaha On Saturdays we did yard work together. (hey, i made a lot of money as a kid mowing lawns later down the road) There is nothing like getting a handwritten letter from a loved one either. Its their time that is more precious and valuable to me than anything that they could buy me. Thank you family I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wanted you to know I appreciate every moment we have and I pray we never take that for granted!! ;o) hugs and loves!!!! ;o) ;o) ;o) ;o)
