What is needed in a Candidate for the Board of Education? In my opinion its about Trust, Integrity, Leadership and Reliability. I have put myself out there for all to see for months upon months, I have answered any and all questions and have always been very upfront and honest about my views. I have worked very hard to earn the TRUST of the people through my willingness to be open and available to all, to stand by my principles, to fight for what I believe to be right and by always putting the children of Union County first. I have years of experience with volunteering within our Schools as well as being a former UCPS employee. I know how the system works from both the inside as well as the outside. As a Police Officer my INTEGRITY was always held to a higher standard. During my career I was credited with over 450 Felony arrests, over 500 Misdemeanor arrests, and several arrests of people who attempted to bribe me as an officer. My integrity was always intact, I received several commendations for my honest and trustworthy Police actions. LEADERSHIP is a quality shared by many, but it is integral to the life of a Police Officer, in 2002 I received the Finest of the Finest Award which is given to a small handful of officers each year. It is awarded (not by the department) by our peers - our fellow officers. It is a special award that very few ever receive during their entire career. I was given this award for my leadership and actions during the safe release of hostages held at gunpoint during an armed robbery. During my time here in NC as a volunteer as well as a Teacher Assistant within UCPS I spent time as a Job coach and was responsible to leave the school with several children with special needs and help them prepare for life beyond HS. We secured them jobs in the community and I was with them while they worked to teach them how to become trustworthy and RELIABLE employees out in the workforce. The schools, the employers and the families trusted me to be a reliable mentor to the children. There are several candidates on the ballot for Board of Education (At-Large) and they are all fine people. I however, believe that I possess the qualities needed to best represent the children and families of Union County. I have a proven track record of TRUST, INTEGRITY, LEADERSHIP and RELIABILITY. I have worked in the public eye my entire life. I have been and always will be a voice of the people and willing to take on any challenge. I will stand up for you and for your children.
