What is on my mind - Of Presidents and Poppets. In the political world there always the Vampires who stay in the shadows and pull the strings of those who have been elected to high office.They suck ever bit of integrity out of those elected leaders until their identity is gone. The same exist in sports. In this Sport called netball a cartoon with a bungling cast of poppets were place at the helm of the organisation by a group call the elders. A few months the puppet masters were change and the strings were pulled from among the dead in the pine. Imagine that the disgruntle bunch led by a known up-setter around athletics pull the strings of the lead puppet and she change the division one play off format. Now this format was discussed at a meeting and accepted by the clubs and was hailed as the greatest piece of innovation by 2 different articles in the press. When first confronted about it she vehemently denied that she knew nothing of the changed. That was the occasion when the string pullers were not around. A few days after, a letter was sent denying that this format was agreed to at the meeting. President or Poppet? Now we may never know how far the string pullers will reach but we now know that the reach is far enough to effect a decision to sack the entire management of the under 21 on the eve of a major championships. Although this writer expressed concern about the preparation of the team over that last few years I would never in my wildest imagination thought that after the group began to to take shape that the puppet masters with their hidden agendas would start their string pulling again. But you turn about is fair play. The sacked assistant coach threaten my club and carried out the threat because I dared to criticized the poor standard of umpiring and demanded an apology from me. I wonder to whom she is demanding an apology and what time limit would be given. I was given 5 days. My criticism was base on principle. Her sacking was in poor taste and poor timing and simply unprofessional. The season is far from over and the puppet masters seem to be winning. Beware for whom the bell tolls for it may toll for thee. Be a President not Puppet.
