What is one of the most important questions you can ask a photographer when booking for your wedding? Quite simply...Can I see a few full weddings. Let’s face it, an average 8 hour wedding will result in about 1500-3000 images being shot with approx 500-700 delivered to the client (either as proofs or digital files depending on how packages are layed out). If a person shoots 3-4 weddings, youre bound to get a few decent ones. Even if they arent that great, a little photoshop here and there and youd be surprised how easily you can manage a decent portfolio of 10-20 images. (Note: Photoshop should never be an excuse to take bad photos. You can take half-decent image and make it decent but you cant save bad photos or turn average photos into something spectacular) Ask to see a complete wedding … everything from getting ready to reception photos. Also, see if the weddings you are looking at are in line with yours. Outdoor lighting and indoor lighting are not the same. Lets say youre getting married in a dark hall or church ... thats completely different than getting married on a beach and both of these scenarios require a different skill set. By looking at a few complete weddings, it will give you a better idea of the consistency of the shots throughout the wedding day.
