What is perfect love? Have you ever questioned how as we meet older married couples that have been together for many many years managed to make it that long? I would say if they were to really think about it, they might tell us that over the years their love changed for one another. What, that doesnt make since for why would they have gotten married if they didnt love each other to begin with? Well, Im sure they probably did as do most of us. Yet, when we marry someone that initial love we feel and how we love is perhaps a love that has not met its inner depth that it can reach after spending time and years with someone and going thru things (the good, the bad and yes sometimes the ugly) and still remaining together which allows us to love one another on a deeper more intimate level and even with a reverent love, a far deeper love than the initial puppy love or newlywed exciting kind of love which if left unchanged not growing into that deeper form, during those tough times we all experience can leave us even fearful at times of the what ifs we cant make it thru this. The awesome thing is when you make it thru, it ultimately strengthens our love for one another and we become settled not fearing the what ifs because we know that when those times come that even tho it may get rocky the bond between the 2 is strong, bound together by an unbreakable cement and they find confidence in that bond. This type of love is an ongoing growth because as the years go by it just gets stronger in the lives of a couple truly committed to one another, this is a special type of commitment that says I am theirs and they are mine, there is no other....a perfect love and the fear is replaced by certainty! From an earthly humanistic standpoint to find that love in our mate is an incredible thing and from a spiritual standpoint to find that love with Christ in God is nothing greater! 1 John 4 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
