What is really unfortunate in the current Egyptian uprising is how rumors spread so quickly and totally distort reality. Although there is no credible evidence to support it at least until this moment- we may have to wait for Wiki leaks to know the truth- a rumor has spread that the US has warned the Egyptian Army against interfering in the current crises and threatened to cut off aid to Egypt if is does. This has been interpreted wrongly by many as Obama supporting the Muslim Brotherhood to stay in power when the only thing that the US did was to remind Morsi that he has to respond to the demands of the Egyptian people or suffer a military take over that will only be seen by the rest of the world as a coup and hence lacking democratic legitimacy.
