What is the Law of Karma? As there are laws by which nature is - TopicsExpress

What is the Law of Karma? As there are laws by which nature is governed so there are also equivalent spiritual laws. Newton’s third law of motion or of reciprocal actions says: For every force there is an equal, but opposite, force. The Law of Karma says: Whatever I give out is what will come back to me. If I give love then love will come back to me; if anger then anger will come back to me etc. Note: it does not say though that if I give love to ‘X’ then ‘X’ will give love back to me, it only says that it will come back to me. These universal laws can not be fooled… good karma will follow you like a shadow and negative karma will come to be settled. We have all experienced some degree of pain and sorrow in our lives. We have all been influenced in some way by greed, arrogance, attachment etc. and acted on these influences. It is good to know though that negative karma will only come back the once, it comes to settle its account and then it is finished. So when something negative happens: 1. Have the awareness that this has come to be settled. Then don’t react negatively and so up the account, rather accept that this is about settling of an account and that after that it will be finished for all time. 2. Learn its lesson so as not to repeat the same mistake again, e.g. if I am surrounded by selfish people maybe it is because I need to learn to be generous. Once we learn the lesson and adopt the ‘virtue’ being taught then that test either won’t come again or if it does it will no longer cause us any distress. 3. When positive things come also watch to not swing into ‘ego’. The Law of Karma is in fact working to restore us to a state of balance and benevolence. Today there is a lot of violence in the world. We may feel helpless in the face of so much violence and ask: What can I do? Know that what we do and how we do it, every single act, is important and significant. The power of consciousness is very great and the consciousness with which we act is significant. When you cook, drive, walk and work are you in a consciousness of giving peace to the world? Anyone can do this. See how just as violence increases, there is equal rise in the number of people looking at ways to create a more peaceful, just, loving and joyous world. This is a special time for change when we can uplift our consciousness in leaps and bounds and completely change our karma. Choose to leave fear, guilt, etc behind… then you will find that you have the hope and courage to change. Learn how to strengthen yourself and enjoy moments of peace, love and purity. Real power is to be able to create stability, beauty, lightness and compassion within yourself. You have a core of beauty and peace inside you, you are more valuable than you know. RAJYOG
