What is the right thing to do? When a company has received a job - TopicsExpress

What is the right thing to do? When a company has received a job application, should they formally inform the applicant the result or let the application into oblivion? I am directing this to Filipino Companies and Institutions. For quite some time now, I have submitted applications to both local and international institutions. Among these two groups, the quick to respond are the non locals, while their counterparts NEVER, not even acknowledge my submission, except for one who qualified me to two interviews. Even this one, never communicated to me the final results, not until I inquired to them through email. It was then , that they informed me, that somebody has already been hired for the job. Though they told me , that they are making my application active for a project that fits my qualification in the future. The last part was quite a consolation but perhaps , a “Consuelo de bobo.” The rest never gave a damn. Unlike their counterparts, international companies, communicated to me quickly, stating that at the time being, there is no position that fits my qualification, or that I am over qualified. Whatever the reason is, the bottom line is a quick reply. International institutions seem to be more businesslike and professional, than the locals. Is this one of the reasons why they branded us a “third world country?” Does your company do this to your applicants too? If you are an HR personnel, what is supposed to be the right thing to do?
