What is the right to free speech, and are there ever reasons to limit it? Join us for a FREE program on Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 pm for discussion regarding free speech and the direction it is taking followed by Q&A from the audience. Panelists include Flemming Rose, an editor at the Danish newspaper that in 2005 published cartoons of the prophet Mohammad, Dr. Onkar Ghate, a Senior Fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute, and Harvey Silvergate, co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (F.I.R.E.). The program, titled Freedom of Speech or Tyranny of Silence?, is presented by the Ayn Rand Institute and Ford Hall Forum as a part of our Partners in Public Dialogue series. Questions like Does free speech include the right to offend? and How should the government respond when foreign groups threaten Americans right to free speech? are sure to provoke a lively discussion.
