What is your greatest challenge? If youre anything like the rest of us, you probably know what your greatest challenge is, and you likely havent addressed it yet. It may be weight problems, addiction, lack of training, shyness, poor organizational skills, or body odor. It might be lack of courage, or lack of trying. Your greatest challenge may be a failed marriage, or a failed dream. It might include money problems, self-esteem problems, or negative thinking. Face it: most of us have a number one problem that is holding us back. Its our nemesis. So whats stopping you? For the vast majority of us, the number one reason why we dont address our number one problem is the same: we never start on it. Weve convinced ourselves over the years that were always going to have the problem. Weve decided that we can live with it. Weve given into it. I know in my own life, Ive gotten used to challenges. Im currently reorienting my efforts to address those challenges that I have ignored for so long. Look at your own life. See if it isnt so. So many times, the troubled areas of our lives become almost old friends. We become so familiar with our foibles that we never try to put them behind us. Its the refrain of the overweight person who says he is just big boned, or the reticent person who says, Ive always been shy. You hear it from the salesman who cant get himself psyched enough to make a sale, or the woman who has struggled to give up smoking. You hear it from almost all of us, in one way or the other. Everyone has his or her little vices. Each of us has our crutch to lean on. Most of us build up our challenges to be a monster. Like the proverbial mountain out of a molehill, we decide our problems are insurmountable, unassailable. Even a mountain can be climbed. Almost every problem can be addressed. The only way we will ever rise above our current position is when we address our demons, and show them to be nothing more than the bogeyman who we once thought to live under the bed. Have a great weekend!
