What kind of insane journalism is it that criticises Obama as weak because he is tying himself in knots trying to stop Syrians killing each other without the USA going in and killing some too!? What (not who) in this world is a political commentator who has not a shred of consistent ethics - but judges a politician facing one of this ages most complex questions with the same parameters as they judge a footballer, a film star....or simply a celebrity who has NOTHING to do with anything of any consequence? How in this world will Obama navigate the schizophrenic domestic politicians and voters, the dysfunctional global institutions...and the agony of seeing people - whose situation we do not fully grasp killing each other for reasons that we cannot fully understand - while the whole world -expecting you to get on and solve it - comments on you as though you were making a decision as to whether to wear the blue silk Armani gown or the purple transparent Gucci trousersuit without ever being prepared to put themselves under the slightest moral obligation or discomfort. Phew. That feels better.
