This i say... ______________________ Unlike the West, Ossie Germans were well educated in how the Western state greatly harboured and re-assimilated many citizens with prior Nazi affiliations (some of them high-ranking); This was not done in the German Democratic Republic, due to a Soviet influence and a fundamental moral distate for National Socialism and also due to a more readily felt disaster of Nazism in the Eastern states. The Western state was portrayed as a mere metamorphasis of the defeated Nazi regime of Great Patriotic War. Therefore, that all said, many Eastern youth seeking to rebel against the status quo (and their socialist mores) embraced Neo-Nazi cultura -- they were the equivs of the punk movement in the Western states. For example, CDs of NeoNazi bands abounded in Eastern teenagers Youth Centres and also their personal music collections, while in the West these titles were *extremely* rare. Jump some 20 years hence, you have a federal state welcoming the largest percentage (and raw number) of MidEastern asylum seekers, Syria, Iraq, et al. Its an explosive mix of factors -- one many mainstream Germans (West-n-East alike) abhor and rightly denounce. Germany is a model state in the EU == more should pattern their immigration policies to the German Model, a hard-learned ethic.
