What people fail to understand is that for each worker in this country who fails to make a living wage, the taxpayers pick up the slack. That means you and me. When the taxpayers are forced to assist these people to survive (even though they are working) with Food Stamps, Medicaid, etc. while those at the top of these multinational corporations reap all the benefits…in reality; we all suffer the consequences. People seem to believe that as long as it is not happening to them, as long as they are in a position to make a decent living for their families, then what happens to these people is their own problem. No, my friends; you are picking up the tab for the economic injustice inflicted upon these workers. The GOP would love to ‘lower’ the minimum wage; claiming it will create more jobs. What twisted logic this is. To further expand the population that cannot purchase more than is required to live at a subsistence level while requiring the government to fill the gap so a ‘few’ can gain even more wealth; is not a boon to a Capitalistic society; it is, in fact, what has been destroying this nation from the ground up.
