What political motivation could Travis Childers, the Democratic nominee for United States Senate in Mississippi, have in signing a pledge to oppose amnesty for immigrants living illegally in the United States? MM would like to take a guess. If Travis Childers has polling data that shows: 1. Thad Cochran cant get over the 50% threshold with voters 2. The biggest group of voters in Mississippi who remain undecided are voters who typically vote Republican but cant make up their minds on whether or not to sit this election out, write in Chris McDaniel as a protest, or possibly vote for the Democrat 3. These undecided voters can be coaxed in to voting for the Democratic nominee if they were comfortable with his position on amnesty, Then conservative voters, not Democratic base voters nor typical swing voters are in control of the outcome of this general election and therefore taking a stand in opposition to amnesty makes good political sense for Childers.
