What race is a child of a multi-racial family? In places like LA, racial mixing is everywhere - walk down a neighborhood street and see numerous multi-racial families and their children, laughing and playing and enjoying life. This business of determining race is a Colonial thing for whites, but in other cultures, too, where purity is lionized. Asian nations struggle with this, even as we do here on census forms. For our President, whats his race? If not the human race? The one-drop mentality labels him Black, and many African-Americans have found comfort in that. But in reality, whats Obamas race? But a blend of them. Twenty or thirty years from now, the mixing of the races will forever alter the face of America, if not much of the world. And the only race that counts is the human race.
