What rational reason could Scotland / the Scots have ... other than pride - and who controls this feeling or the need for freedom ... personally I would recommend - dont get fooled by politicians with very special/personal interests - look around and ask yourself how and why should we prosper under these conditions ...while other countries/regions suffer and risk not to make it ?!? having no industry, relying on shrinking oil + gas deposits, banking/finance will leave the country the list goes on and on ... Scotland has little to survive Scotland faces immense currency risks (loosing the pound, having no EURO, no credit reserve, huge debt/capita) Scotland has to introduce an interim currency, ... has to apply to become a member of the EU (which might take 2+ years...) might be applicable to become a member of the EUR-zone (if and only if they can control their debt...) Scotland takes a huge risk (check out the status + problems of other EU countries - Ireland, Cyprus, Portugal, Greece, Italy, France, Andorra, Luxemburg, Lichtenstein, ...) This is an adventure too big to handle these days ... Scotland is not a group of some people ... the ones doing the motivation to become independent should be asked about their own motivation.... People eligible to vote but dont even live in the country / have little knowledge about Europe ... how could they be even allowed to vote ? Sigh ... well see Sep 18 :-(
