What really bothers me: Going to visit a school and seeing that - TopicsExpress

What really bothers me: Going to visit a school and seeing that they dont have the resources they need to provide a better learning environment because of the lack of funding. It bothers me even more that teachers are so under appreciated, with salaries that are less than good--and THEN they have to go out of pocket to buy supplies for the school AND their students because the state is not providing them with adequate funding- or none at all. This is like an educational death sentence for these kids, too. They are the ones who are suffering the consequences of this for the rest of their lives! Okay- test scores should not be the measurement scale to decide what schools get funding. How do you expect test scores to improve if you are not providing the school with the funding they need to be able to provide them with the resources they need? I know that there are certain programs for underprivileged and low funded schools- but that obviously doesnt work, and hasnt been working. No child left behind? Ya right. These kids are being left behind and forgotten about. I could go on and on about this problem. And it is SUCH a big problem.. I didnt realize it until I saw it in front of my eyes and saw JUST HOW BAD it really is. Those of us that are living in a good area hardly see this as a major issue- but it is a overwhelmingly BIG problem.
