What really frustrates me is that most religious people have - TopicsExpress

What really frustrates me is that most religious people have misappropriated their holy book and not read it for what it is. The religion espoused in the Quran is very different from the religion of Islam today, just as with the Bible and Christianity. Holy books and the religions apparently based off them have such a wide disconnect it boggles my mind to look at the very weak connection between them. Islam will die if it does not evolve more quickly. The spirituality must deepen and the social values must broaden or it will become a withered, hollowed shell of a faith born of a beautiful book. Judaism IS dying. Christianity is surviving due to the comparatively rapid rate of adopting progressive social values, though it could use a strong spiritual booster shot. Im not a particularly hopeful person in this regard, however. I believe the Abrahamic religions will limp into the 22nd century, and will be small minorities by the 23rd. In that time I expect the very nature and definition of religion to shift in radical ways. Whatever does happen I look forward to watching it unfold.
