What say you to this, Members of the European Parliament? If the government of France or Germany had ignored its own nations laws and acted just as it wished, would you have remained silent? Clearly you do not accord the people of Romania the same protections you accord the peoples of other EU member states. Some states are more equal than others. With recent events, the Romanian government has demonstrated its willingness to trample on the fundamental rights — enshrined in the countrys Constitution — of its own citizens. The situation has escalated beyond that damned dog problem. If you fail to respond swiftly and decisively on this issue, you will prove that the EP is essentially a bureaucratic veneer of use to no one, except its own members. And the voices demanding you, Pick up your own tab! will be deafening.
