What started labor at BWI on a downward slope as far as wage and benefit was the public private partnership model enacted a few decades ago. Moving to a national private contractor with a history of labor abuses to maximize profits brings the environment we have today. These last few years have seen the BWI transportation move from MTA to VEOLA and we are witnessing the same impoverishment of people for profit. Now, we know the problem with the US economy is that too much wealth is at the top and impoverished worker cannot consume....consumption fuels the economy you know. We know this yet neo-liberals that capture the democratic party in Maryland insist on driving more and more people into poverty with these policies. Why is that? The goal of global corporations and their pols is to have domestic workers impoverished and desperate for work as this maximizes corporate profits with lower labor costs. Meanwhile they expand overseas to find the worlds middle-class to buy products. That is why OMalley and Erhlich are the king of bling---global market bling! OMalley has worked hard to install this global vision of THE NEW ECONOMY where all workers look like Asian peasants and wealth inequity creates global plutocracy. WOW what a plan! The problem is as more people understand this is the goal the more unlikely this plan will pan out. This is not the 1800s British Isles!
