What strange things preconceptions can be. Yesterday I was anticipating a straightforward exit from Iran, and a difficult entry into Azerbaijan, perhaps even being refused entry with a right-hand-drive vehicle.... The Iranian side of the border was utter chaos, corrupt, disorganised (even by local standards), no English / German / Russian spoken and very stressful. Breezed through the Azerbaijani side with no fuss, calm, organised and professional, Russian and English speakers to make the process totally painless. Now I am in the autonomous republic of Nakhchivan, an exclave of Azerbaijan nestled between Iran and Armenia.
