What the Bible says about how to find the purpose of life? After talking about the futility of life, when he lived with everything this world could offer, Solomon gives us these important findings in the book of Ecclesiastes: The end of all has been heard, is: fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). Solomon said that all of life is to honor God with our thoughts and lives, keeping His commandments, because one day stand before Him to give account. David: Unlike those whose earnings are in this life, David sought satisfaction in the future tense. He said, As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness (Psalm 17:15). For David, your complete satisfaction come a day when he woke up (in the afterlife) facing the face of God (in fellowship with Him) and being in His likeness (1 John 3:2). Asaf: In Psalm 73, Asaph talks about how he was tempted to envy the wicked, who seemed to have no problems and increased their wealth on the backs of those who took advantage of, but then saw its final destination. Then, in contrast to what they desire in their lives, declares in verse 25 that it is more important to him: Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. For him, a relationship with God is what mattered above everything else in life. Paul: The Apostle Paul talked about everything he had done before being confronted by the risen Christ, and how everything that once had or had achieved (especially in religion), it was like a pile of garbage for him now compared with the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus Christ, even if that included suffering the loss of all things. In Philippians 3:9-10, he says that is what he wanted ... I be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God through faith, to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. Again, to Paul what mattered most was to know Christ and be found righteous, justice obtained from God through faith in Jesus Christ and live in communion with Him, even when that will bring suffering (2 Timothy 3:12). In conclusion, he longed for the time when he would engage in the resurrection from the dead. The purpose of life as described in Revelation: The last book in the Bible, the book of Revelation reveals what will happen in the end of this world, as we know it. After Christ returns and His 1000 year reign on earth completed, unbelievers will be resurrected and judged by their works and sent for eternal lake of fire (Revelation 20) existence. The earth and the heavens as we know them now will be destroyed and a new heaven and a new earth will be created, and the eternal state will be established. Again, as in the Garden of Eden in Genesis, man back to God and He will dwell with them (Revelation 21:3); all the remnant of the curse (on the ground because of mans sin) will be removed - suffering, sickness, death, pain. (Revelation 21:4) God says that those who overcome will inherit all things. He will be their God and they shall be His children. So, as started in Genesis, redeemed the human race will live in fellowship with God, free from sin and its curse (both internally and externally), in a perfect world, perfect hearts bearing the likeness of the heart of Christ (1 John 3:2-3). The purpose of life described by Jesus Christ: In the beginning, God created man to enjoy of (1) fellowship with Him, (2) relate to others, (3) work, and (4) to exercise dominion over the earth. But the man fall into sin, fellowship with God was broken, relationships with others are often rough work always seems to have its negative sides, and man battle to keep an apparent mastery over nature, and either climate or weeds in the field or garden. In the new heavens and new earth, man will be involved in all this again, but in a state of perfection restored. But how does one become part of the group that will reach the new heavens and earth? And what should we do now? All this makes sense only in the next life when the curse of sin be removed? Jesus Christ, Son of God, left His heavenly home, took human form, though retaining his full deity, and came to earth both TO PAY THE PRICE FOR OUR ETERNAL LIFE, for the purpose in this life. And for being our sinfulness that separated the human race from God, by bringing upon us the curse, Matthew 1:21 says that Jesus came to ... save His people from their sins. The purpose in life depends on the origin of the human race: If we were the result of a cosmic accident (evolution), then we would simply biologically sophisticated life forms that have managed to reach a conscience. We would despair because there is no greater purpose in life than to survive and prolong the human species, to take place next cosmic accident that leads our way of life to a higher degree. BUT, we are NOT the result of a cosmic accident. True science proves the fact that macro-evolution (the transformation of different species to species) is a farce. Evolution is falsely called science when in fact it is not repeatable or observable, but mostly accepted by faith, much as it is creating. While we continue to learn more about microbiology, we learn that it is highly unlikely the possibility of forming even the simplest protein molecule, necessary for life, even if TRILLION years were granted for the chance combination of amino acids were given in the correct order. Nor does the fossil record support the evolutionary theory. In the words of evolutionists, there must be multiple numbers of transitional forms of life that simply have not been found. What does the fossil record is the corroboration of what Genesis, Chapter one of the Bible says; a large number of different species that were at one time the vast majority of these species are the same that still exist today. The changes observed in birds and moths observed in the nineteenth century, and cited as support involved evolutionary changes within species (microevolution) are something to which neither the Bible nor the evolutionists object. Also, as we learn more about the call single cell, which are again along the first chapter of Genesis declares that life is the result of the incredible wisdom of a Designer and Creator. Because we are not the result of a cosmic accident, but a creation of God. Yes, there is a purpose in life and God has already told us what it is.
