What the Scriptures Say: THE TRUTH BEHIND THE SINNERS PRAYER PART 7 This message is dedicated to the glory of God our Father, and our Lord Jesus the Christ. For the edification of His Body the church. Isaiah 55:6-7 King James Version (KJV) 6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. On our previous lesson we learned that on important ingredient in the sinners prayer is to Call Upon the Name of the Lord. For to day we will go to another vital if not equal matter that makes up for the truth regarding the so called sinners prayer. THE CALL TO REPENT: Brethren there comes a point in time that to some people we see that they have gone beyond the point of being saved in their life. Now it doesnt mean we are not to witness to them anymore, that remains our duty. We are to make it known to them that sin will eventually set them apart from God. Unless they come to repentance. They should do so while God is yet near. Time is of the essence there is no room to tarry. Now for Christian believers this holds true as well for the bible teaches us not to harden our hearts and continue to walk in the Spirit; Hebrews 3:15 King James Version (KJV) 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. --- Romans 8:1 King James Version (KJV) 8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. --- Romans 8:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Beloved if ye are a true Born Again, King James Bible Believing, Christian. Then your life is one of genuine repentance {METANOIA}. You have become dead to sin now ye have the chance to live a victorious Christian life in Christ. Do not be of the mindset that repentance comes only but once when ye do so upon your belief in the Christ, for that would be mere deception of yourselves. We are called upon by God to forsake our wicked ways and turn to him. Nay In Christ, doesnt mean we have attained a state of sinless perfection in this world. However we are to become good stewards of Gods grace and no longer live in sin. Alway remembering that we grieve the Holy Spirit every time we harbor and commit sin in our lives. The apostle Paul had these words to say on the matter as he was inspired by the Holy Ghost; Romans 5:20 King James Version (KJV) 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: --- Romans 6:1-2 King James Version (KJV) 6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Wherefore the call for man both unbeliever and believer is a constant one to turn away from sin the word is FORSAKE thine sins brethren. Now that is what genuine repentance is all about! A man now lives to glorify his God and not his flesh. As I was preparing this message I couldnt help but be amazed at how God speaks to us to day in his words just as he did to the prophet Isaiah way back in the Old Testament. Isaiah 55:7 King James Version (KJV) 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. God is telling the Christian here to FORSAKE his ways (sins) and then to go to the confessional box and tell the priest all your sins? Nay, God tells us to RETURN unto the Lord! I love that word RETURN to specifically say to us we sinned and left. And now we must seek forgiveness and return. The new Testament bears record of this as well brethren: 1 John 1:8-9 King James Version (KJV) 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Now do ye see the harmony in the word of God? Do you see how it complements Scripture by Scripture? I say Amen! Now what the apostle Paul said becomes more crystal clear to us does it not? As the light of the word of truth gives us the wisdom. Romans 8:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Yea although our weak flesh would cause us to sin God in the Christ has provided for us a way out! One which we should think of as a great privilege and not one to be taken for granted and abused. You see friends when we harbor and commit sin we become the children of disobedience. Now if we keep on sinning God starts to pull back, pull back until such a time he would be too far from thee. This is why confessing outright our sins to God in all humility and truth is essential. How do ye think God would feel for any man who keeps saying sorry all the time without knowing repentance? How would you feel about a person who conducts himself in such manner to you? Would ye feel good? Nay ye would not, not at all. Same thing and perhaps even greater when we do that to God. Sin is like a leaking hole in your roof if you dont take care of it pretty soon it is going to get bigger! Then when your furniture is all wet and washed out by the rain ye start to think of fixing the roof!? I heard a story of a man who lost 90% of his heart function being visited by his son. Dad you need to get saved the man replied, Im not ready yet!!!! When will ye be ready when it is too late or NOW when God is still nigh? ---to be continued We will be having more in depth study on our lesson on our following segments. Do be with us, till then this is Pastor Greg W. Lopez - SHALOM! The hand of my Savior is strong And the love of my Savior is long Through sunshine or rain, through loss or in gain, The blood flows from Calvary to cleanse every stain. Theres room at the cross for you Theres room at the cross for you Though millions have come, theres still room for one Yes theres room at the cross for you.
